Welcome to the Climate Defence Network (CDN) web site. CDN
is a coalition of groups (see Supporting
Organisations) working in New Zealand on climate change
issues. CDN is a strong supporter of the Kyoto Protocol and
of New Zealand adopting policies which will ensure that it
meets, and exceeds, its current Kyoto Protocol commitments.
If you want to get active on climate change issues, this
site will provide the resources to help you. You don't have
to be an expert to make a difference. The future of climate
change policy in New Zealand hangs in the balance. Your contribution
is crucial.
On May 12 2008, Climate Defence Network representatives appeared
before the Select Committee considering the Climate Change
(Emissions Trading Scheme and Renewable Preference) Bill.
In its supplementary submission, CDN urged support for the
Bill despite its weaknesses and expressed its disappointment
at the recent proposals to delay the entry of transport fuels
into the scheme and to extend the phase-out of free allowances.
24 January 2009, 1-6pm. Climate Defence Network Workshop to discuss
